What are asymmetric arms?
When lifting a car with asymmetric arms the front arms are at a 90 degree angle to the lift. This shifts most of the vehicle weight to the rear of the lift. Approximately 30% in front of the column and 70% behind it. To make this happen the front arm is shorter than the rear arm on Asymmetric style lifts. When the lift is not in use both arms will swing to the rear of the lift. See the diagram below to see how they operate.
